Wednesday’s Full Moon is in the passionate and intense sign of Scorpio, bringing us to a powerful culmination point that feels both cathartic and empowering. The Full Moon in astrology represents not only a culmination point, but also a point of release where we’ve done all that we can do and the results are no longer up to us. It’s a point of no return, where we must relinquish control and allow events to unfold as they will— guided by something much more powerful than ourselves. With the Full Moon in Scorpio, the sign of death and transformation, this theme of release is much more potent. Now is a time to take stock of how far we’ve come and to let go of the things we cannot change or control. In doing so we may become more empowered, as there is a sense of mastery that is gained throughout this process of creation, culmination and release. Although there is much about this Full Moon that is beyond our control, by simply acknowledging the energy and actively choosing to allow it to unfold in the way it was meant to, we take back our individual power while recognizing that there is also something much greater than us at play. Scorpio is a fixed sign, and although it is associated with themes of loss and surrender, Scorpio has an incredibly difficult time with truly letting to. Being a water sign, Scorpio forms deep, emotional attachments to people, situations, events, and to a much lesser extent, certain objects that are considered sacred and have a special, deeper meaning to the individual.
Scorpio is ruled by Pluto, known in Greek and Roman mythology as Lord of the Underworld. Scorpio is unafraid of the shadowy depths of the unconscious and can become intensely focused on digging up the Truth, regardless of how dark and difficult that process may be. Because of this, the Full Moon in Scorpio is notorious for bringing the Truth to light. Secrets that have been kept hidden may be brought out into the open to be released and transformed into something much greater. The Moon is considered to be at its fall in Scorpio— this is because the combined energy of Scorpio and the Moon can drudge up our deep-seeded fears and past traumas. The Full Moon in Scorpio has a way of revealing to us the ways in which we give our power away via our intense emotional attachments to the past, and in doing so, the Full Moon will also assist us in releasing these attachments in order to take back our power.
This Full Moon comes to us in the midst of two very powerful aspects— the Sun’s trine to Pluto and Mercury’s final conjunction to Uranus (read more about these powerful transits in my Weekday Forecast). With Mercury’s conjunction to Uranus, it’s safe to say we should expect the unexpected when it comes to communication, and we should also be on the lookout for new insight providing innovative solutions to old problems. With the Moon in sextile and the Sun still in close trine with Pluto, the Full Moon in Scorpio takes on a physically and emotionally regenerative quality, assisting us in a process of deep and profound transformation. Pluto’s influence is both magnetic and repulsive, and it is possible to consciously use the energy of this Full Moon to effortlessly draw in the things we desire most, all the while releasing that which no longer serves our highest purpose.
In typical Scorpio fashion, this Full Moon is looking to be deeply revealing and intensely transformative, and using this powerful Plutonian energy with conscious intention is highly recommended. ;)
