There is a lot of energy building this week! We kick off the workweek with Venus, the planet of love, relationships, and material comfort shifting into the ultra-nurturing sign of Cancer— bringing an increase in emotional bonds and a desire for greater comfort and support in our close relationships. Expect the unexpected mid-week as the energy intensifies with Uranus stationing to go retrograde on Wednesday, followed by the grand finale of the Jupiter/Pluto square on Thursday!
Monday (7/31): Venus moves from its flirtatious position in the sign of Gemini into the nurturing, intuitive sign of Cancer today where it will remain until the 26th of August. Throughout this time, many of us will feel inclined to cozy up to our partners and to express our love and appreciation toward those around us in a way that is much more supportive. Our emotional bonds deepen under the influence of Venus in Cancer and we become much more sensitive and attuned to the moods and emotions of our close friends and romantic partners. This is an excellent time to relax at home or cook meals for your loved ones, as Venus in Cancer loves to nurture others with delicious, home-cooked comfort foods!
Keep in mind that the moon is VOC in Scorpio from 4:05am MST onward today, making this a good day for reflection, research and inner work but not an ideal time to initiate anything new.
Tuesday (8/1): Today we celebrate Lammas, a little known holiday that marks the first of three harvest seasons in the solar year. Lammas is a celebration in which we give thanks to Mother Earth for her bounty and acknowledge her as the giver of life. In Celtic tradition, this important solar marker is known as Lughnasad, named for Lugh, the god of wisdom and illumination. Lammas is the time of the midsummer harvest dedicated to the fertile mother goddess in all her various forms. This time period symbolizes the transformation of the maiden goddess into the aspect of the pregnant Earth Mother, ripe with the energy of birth and creation. It is around this time that Egyptions honored the goddess Isis whose tears are attributed to the flooding of the Nile around this time each year. It is also the time when the Greeks honored Demeter, the grain mother who was responsible for nurturing her human children by providing them with agricultural knowledge and optimal weather conditions to ensure a plentiful harvest. On this powerful portal of celebration, it is wise for us all to take a moment to reflect and give thanks for all the beauty that has unfolded in our lives thus far as we prepare to move forward into the cooler autumn season ahead.
Wednesday (8/2): Expect the unexpected today as Uranus, the planet of chaos, divine inspiration, and abrupt change, sits strong in the skies and stations to move retrograde. When in retrograde, the rebellious and innovative energy typical of Uranus is intensified and directed inward, catalyzing divine inspiration and moments of powerful insight that seem to appear from out of nowhere! Around the time Uranus stations, there can be great changes and upheavals, particularly on the mental plane, which can cause use to become much more easily agitated. For those who are feeling extra frustrated and rebellious at this time, this energy may be channeled positively by actively pursuing change in whichever area of life the frustration is felt.
Thursday (8/3): Jupiter in Libra makes its third and final square with Pluto in Capricorn today! This transit brings up issues surrounding the use and abuse of power in a way that challenges us to find a point of resolution. There can be a tendency under this influence to exploit others for personal gain, which can prove incredibly destructive in the long-term. Now is the time to focus on creating better balance in our relationships, especially ones in which we hold positions of authority over others. We also have the opportunity to recognize the ways we are being exploited by the people closest to us, highlighting power struggles in our relationships. As this energy reaches a point of resolution, the influence of this transit can feel both intense and expansive as we break free from old structures and hierarchies that no longer serve us, allowing us to take back our individual and collective power to move into a truly expansive place of greater balance, harmony and justice.
Have a beautiful week everyone! Be sure to check back on Thursday for the weekend forecast! ☺
