Supported by harmonious aspects from both Jupiter and Mars, both still forming a close conjunction in the intense and passionate sign of Scorpio, this incredibly powerful combination of energies makes it much easier to see ourselves and our relationships more clearly, allowing us an incredible opportunity to do the deeper work.

Monday (1/8): Lots of supportive, harmonious planetary action with Venus, the planet of pleasure, beauty, romance and relationships making its superior conjunction with the Sun in the grounded, earthy sign of Capricorn. The superior conjunction of the Sun and Venus is essentially the mid-point of the synodic cycle, a time when Venus is farthest from the earth (reaching it’s exact farthest distance, aka Apogee, on Wednesday) and moving most quickly from our vantage point. Because the light of the Sun shines so brightly, Venus becomes occulted in the sky (also known as “combust”) around the time of the superior conjunction, and will re-appear as the evening star in roughly 36 days, taking on a more conventional and subdued influence (as opposed to Venus as the morning star, or “Lucifer,” which is regarded as more unconventional and rebellious). Traditionally, this is regarded as a difficult time for women and all things Venusian, however; with the Sun essentially illuminating the influence of Venus in Capricorn, we can also become more conscious of old structures and patterns in relationships that are no longer working for us, relieving us of detrimental commitments that may otherwise prove difficult to release.
This conjunction is happening in sextile with Jupiter AND a very close conjunction with Pluto, which comes exact early tomorrow morning at 2:33am MST. With Pluto in the mix, power-struggles in relationships and finances may be brought out into the open to be consciously dealt with and released. Once again this is an excellent time for releasing old, outdated patterns and structures in relationships as well as deep, psychological and emotional work around our commitments and money issues. In sextile with Jupiter, this experience can come about in a more gentle way with many positive benefits as a result of our actions, but only if we activate the sextile by engaging with the energy. Avoidance of dealing with such matters will only hinder our growth moving forward. Once we look at what’s been repressed, suppressed and hidden deep below the surface regarding issues in relationships, finances and self-worth, we’ll realize that the issues we’ve been avoiding aren’t all that scary after all.
In addition to all of the interesting Venus action occurring throughout the day today, Mars will be making a sextile to Pluto, following suit with both Venus and the Sun throughout the day tomorrow. This aspect encourages us to take action when it comes to the deep revelations uncovered by this highly unusual and tight configuration between Venus, the Sun, Pluto, Mars and Jupiter! This is also a highly sexually charged energy, making this an excellent time to explore and to deepen intimacy within partnership. We can more easily delve into topics and activities that are normally considered highly taboo throughout this time period, with greater reward for doing so.
As far as the Moon goes, it will be making it’s third quarter square in the sign of Libra today, squaring Venus around the same time it makes it’s square to the Sun. Challenging emotional attachments to relationships, possessions, and old structures and modes of being may throw us off-balance today, making it more difficult to purge and let go where necessary. This is the winding down of the lunar cycle which began on December 17th with the New Moon in Sagittarius— a crisis of completion and moving on.
Tuesday (1/9): Today we move into the aforementioned supportive aspects between Venus, the Sun and Pluto in the early morning hours as well as the potent and positive sextile between Venus, the Sun and Mars later this afternoon. The energy today is a continuation of Monday’s energy, which is still highly active. The Moon will oppose Uranus in the early morning hours, bringing a bit of anxiety and emotional disruption before making a sextile with Mercury and going Void-of-Course in Libra at 9:12am. This is an excellent time to take a break or focus on mundane tasks prior to the Moon moving into Scorpio at 1:04pm MST, after which time the Moon will sextile Saturn, indicating that it’s time to get back to work. ;)
Wednesday (1/10): Mercury moves into Capricorn today, an excellent energy for diligent planning, stern mental energy and hard work! The energy of Mercury’s conjunction to Saturn (exact on Friday) will become prevalent as soon as Mercury changes signs, which can make decision-making and reaction time a bit slower. This also effects our thoughts, sobering us up and causing us to think about things a bit more seriously. Communication also takes on a more restrictive, somber tone and people will be more like to hold things in rather than expressing their thoughts in their normal manner. Our responsibilities will weigh heavier on our minds this week, that much is for certain.
The Moon in Scorpio today will make a beautiful, harmonious trine with Neptune, putting us in a dreamier, more romantic and compassionate state.
Thursday (1/11): No major planetary aspects today. The Moon in Scorpio will highlight Monday & Tuesday’s Venus/Sun/Pluto conjunction along with all of the supportive, Scorpionic energy as it comes into conjunction with Mars and Jupiter, before sextiling the Capricorn planets and going Void-of-Course at 7:53am MST. This brings about a revival of the energy that was present and prominent earlier this week, causing us to take yet another look at all was brought up for all of us regarding our relationships, finances and self-worth.
The Moon is Void-of-Course throughout the day today until 12:04am MST, which is technically tomorrow. This indicates that this is a day of reflection, rather than action, giving us ample opportunity to integrate all of the deeper work that has come about as a result of the energy that kicked off this week.
Have a beautiful week! Be sure to check back on Thursday for the weekend forecast! :)
