This week we’re entering into the dark phase of the moon, a time best suited for solitude and introspection as we come into the major reset brought on by the partial Solar Eclipse & New Moon in the enigmatic and rebellious sign of Aquarius on Thursday. Because this eclipse is in a conjunction with the karmic South Node, this reset is more about surrender, loss and letting go to clear some space for more beneficial energy to enter our lives in the months ahead. As with any eclipse, pay attention to signs, syncronicities, dreams and impressions as this is a time when we may be guided by otherworldly forces to let go of all that holds us back from moving forward into our destiny.
Monday (2/12): No major planetary aspects. The Moon is going dark in the pragmatic and responsible sign of Capricorn, making some intense aspects to Pluto and Uranus today. This morning we may feel much more serious and intense. It is a good morning to work in seclusion to to engage in activities that require intense stamina and focus. Power struggles may come to the surface early in the day today that may lead us to make a last-minute change of plans as we come into the evening tonight. Luckily, a sextile with Jupiter mid-day helps to lift our spirits when we need it most. The Moon goes Void-of-Course at 10:43pm MST, making tonight an ideal time to rest, reflect, and take care of routine tasks.
Tuesday (2/13): The Moon moves into the unique and unusual sign of Aquarius this morning at 8:11am MST, ushering us into the eclipse energy, and will remain un-aspected throughout the day.
Mercury in Aquarius comes into a challenging square with Jupiter in passionate and obsessive Scorpio today, putting our minds on overdrive! Many will be prone to overthinking decisions and over-communicating their ideas, sometimes to the extent where they’ll try to force their views on others. Aquarius, while known for being an independent, freedom-loving sign can become quite dogmatic in their mindset, and this tendency is amplified under this influence. On the plus side, people may feel more optimistic and passionate about their ideas and ideals, which can lead to important mental breakthroughs! This energy is good for brainstorming and planning for the future, but not for finalizing decisions and making concrete plans— especially considering we’re in the dark phase of the moon during eclipse season! It’s best to wait at least a few days before committing to whatever it is that unfolds today.
The Sun comes into a supportive sextile with Uranus today, bringing innovative new approaches to achieving success. This influence may also bring positive changes in relationships with authority figures and bosses, as well as jolts of inspiration! Again, a great day for innovative problem-solving and planning for major changes, but it’s still advisable to wait a bit before moving forward with plans.
Wednesday (2/14): No major planetary aspects. The Moon is still in the friendly, yet detached sign of Aquarius throughout the day, and makes a harmonious sextile with Mars early this morning, indicating that we may begin the day feeling more energized and active!
The Aquarius moon is enigmatic. While it brings a sort of voyeuristic emotional detachment in our close relationships, there is also a deeply felt sense of connection with humanity and the world at large. There may be a resistance to the ideas and beliefs of others all the while new inspiration and insight might come about intuitively from out of the blue. This is a great time for innovation, technology and doing things that are outside of the norm. Humanitarian pursuits are favored at this time, and it may prove easier to rally people together for a common cause.
Thursday (2/15): Today is the day! We have a partial Solar Eclipse and New Moon in Aquarius dominating the astrology today, and at the 27th degree this energy reflects upon events that played out around of the time of the total Solar Eclipse in Leo back in August 2017— only this time the energy shows up in a less overtly intense way. Because this is a partial eclipse, with a wide-orb conjunction to the South Node, the energy will not feel quite as strong and the effects aren’t likely to manifest physically in the same way as the eclipse that occurred last summer, however; similar themes may arise.
Because this eclipse is in a close conjunction with Mercury, the planet of communication and intellect, in the innovative and scientific sign of Aquarius, the focus of this eclipse will be on our ideas and the way we go about communicating them. Releasing old habits and dogmatic ways of thinking will free up energy for new beginnings in the area being effect by the eclipse in our charts. The energy of the North Node in Leo and South Node in Aquarius favors more heart-centered and authentic connection over the more detached and voyeuristic forms of communication that have become more commonplace.
Aquarius is a transpersonal sign with an innate connection to the collective. Aquarius is deeply linked to the whole of humanity while still maintaining a certain level of individuality and freedom. Rather than playing the martyr (Pisces), Aquarius brings a tendency to fight the battles of others on their behalf. With the strong Aquarian energy at the time of this New Moon Eclipse, it is important not to get sucked into somebody else’s revolution or cause. This is also an optimal time to shed dogmatic political beliefs and fears surrounding intimacy. On a collective level, we are in an age when we are over-saturated with information and misinformation and throughout the remainder of the South Node’s transit through Aquarius, we will be required to listen to our hearts over our heads in order to discern the truth.
The Solar Eclipse and New Moon are exact at 1:53pm and 1:05pm MST, and the Moon goes Void-of-Course immediately following the conjunction of the Moon and Sun. The Moon moves into the mystical, magical sign of Pisces at 7:41pm MST, cultivating a more ominous and ethereal energy that closes out the night. Overall, today is a day to surrender, let go, reflect and go inward. Between the Eclipse in conjunction to Mercury and the supportive sextile between Mercury and Uranus, our minds may be particularly active with all sorts of new ideas and divine inspiration, but this all of this mental energy will likely be internalized rather than communicated or translated into action at this time.
Mercury comes into a supportive sextile aspect with Uranus in Aries today, merging the “higher” and “lower” aspects of the mind. Today is a day when our thoughts may be racing with downloads of information and flashes of insight that lead us toward new, innovative ways of solving old problems. This is an excellent day for creative problem solving or brainstorming with coworkers and friends.
Venus in the romantic and compassionate sign of Pisces comes into a supportive sextile with Saturn in Capricorn, grounding out the dreamy and somewhat confusing energy that has been forming around our relationships. While Venus in Pisces can feel very loving and fantastical, it’s not the best energy for seeing things for what they truly are, as the influence of Venus in Pisces often causes us to put on the rose-colored glasses when it comes to our most important relationships. With Saturn in the mix, we get a brief moment of clarity where we can see things more realistically while still maintaining that connected and fantastical Neptunian vibe.
