Mercury officially stations to go retrograde this week! With Mercury’s slow speed being filtered through the willful, action-oriented sign of Aries, many of our endeavors will likely be met with irritation, especially if we try to rush to the finish line with important deadlines, plans, projects and communications. Mercury in Aries desires to move at a lightening speed, making snap decisions and jumping from topic-to-topic without hesitation; however, with Mercury slowing to a standstill, impulsivity will be met only with frustration, prompting us to sit tight and be patient under what is normally the most impatient of influences!
Monday (3/19): Mercury comes into a tight conjunction with Venus in Aries today, highlighting an urgent need for communication, decision-making and action in relationships. This influence is excellent in supporting fair and balanced communication, and is great for beautiful, creative forms of communication through creative writing, poetry, singing, or even public speaking. Additionally, Mercury conjunct Venus compels us to communicate our true thoughts and feelings to those closest to us, but with Mercury in Aries it’s important to make sure we don’t speak too bluntly or overstep! This is also excellent energy for communicating exciting new plans or partnering up on an important project.
The Moon today will go Void-of-Course at 12:29pm MST after making it’s last aspect in the sign of Aries, a conjunction with Uranus, indicating the potential for sudden changes to plans and projects initiated after Saturday’s full moon. The Moon moves into it’s exaltation in the sign of Taurus at 6:07pm MST, where it will remain for the next 2.5 days. In Taurus, the Moon makes a harmonious trine with Mars, very easily providing us with enough passion and forward momentum to get the ball rolling on our plans for the week.
Tuesday (3/20): Happy Spring Equinox (and Fall Equinox to our Australian friends)!
In Western astrology, the Spring Equinox is known as the astrological New Year. It is the point in time when the Sun moves out of Pisces, the final sign in the Zodiac, and into Aries, the Zodiac’s first sign. Aries is associated with the element of Fire, denoting action, energy, initiation, and physicality. Being a sign associated with the change of seasons, Aries is also what’s know as a Cardinal sign, meaning the fiery, masculine energy of Aries is highly focused and channeled into action and new beginnings. The energy and themes associated with Aries are reflected in the energy of springtime— a period of movement, warmth, initiation, fertility, renewal and rebirth in which we are given a clean slate and all things seem possible. The Spring Equinox is associated with the eastern horizon and the rising Sun. It is the dawn of new possibilities, a perfect time for a fresh start or a new lease on life. Spring is the season when the Sun begins to shine more brightly, the ground begins to warm and the flowers begin to blossom. We become more active as we venture outside once again, and we may feel a renewed sense of energy and vigor to take on projects we’ve been contemplating throughout the dark winter months.
The Moon today continues its transit through the earthy, sensual sign of Taurus, making harmonious aspects with both Saturn and Neptune. Early this morning, the Moon will make a beautiful trine with Saturn in Capricorn, grounding and stabilizing our emotions and helping us to get back down to business! Later this evening, with a supportive sextile to Neptune, the Moon’s energy becomes much more compassionate and intuitive, allowing us to escape into fantasy through a good book, meditation, or even a bit or dreamy romance. ;)
Wednesday (3/21): No major planetary aspects. The Moon goes Void-of-Course in Taurus at 10:21am after an opposition to Jupiter in Scorpio, and will remain this way throughout most of the day. The moon is considered Void of Course (VOC) during the time between the moon’s last major aspect with another planet in its current sign and the moment it moves into the next sign.
Because now is a time when the moon remains un-aspected, our inner world may become much more calm, quiet and clear. The VOC moon is a time when our intuition can become heightened as it is free from outside planetary influences; however, too much mental or physical activity at this time can distort our psychic senses and cause us to take wrong action. This is why when we take action or begin a new project during the VOC moon, things often don't pan out. Likewise, any thoughts we may have or worries we may hold on to are also unlikely to come to fruition and are merely serving as a distraction from the inner quiet brought on by the void. While the VOC moon is a fertile time for receiving insight and inspiration, now is not the time to act. In just a few hours, the moon will change signs, which will allow us to begin bringing to fruition whatever was seeded during this highly intuitive time of calm and contemplation.
The Moon moves into the inquisitive and playful sign of Gemini late tonight at 10:30pm MST, where it will remain for the next 2.5 days.
Thursday (3/22): Mercury stations today! Mercury will officially be in retrograde until April 15th, so that means it’s time for us all to re-organize, re-edit, re-visit and wrap up old projects, rather than beginning new ones. When Mercury is in retrograde, it is best to remain flexible and leave some wiggle room when it comes to important plans, projects, and decisions that are carried out at this time. Mercury is 3x stronger in the skies throughout it’s retrograde period, and this makes us more prone to mental overload and rushing into making decisions before fully thinking things through—and in the impulsive sign of Aries, this is especially true! This is an excellent time for formulating new ideas (but not acting on them just yet) and cleaning up old mistakes. If this time period is utilized for such things, the results can be tremendously positive once Mercury goes direct!

The Moon today will continue it’s transit through Gemini, reaching it’s waxing crescent phase in sextile with the Sun in Aries. The Crescent Moon phase is a time when the seeds planted at the time of the new moon first begin to sprout. This can be an exciting time of exploring new ideas. This is an ideal time to get out into the world to meet new people and test the waters by beginning to take action on your intentions. This is a very optimistic time when we anticipate the potential of the new plans and projects that are about to take form over the coming lunar month. This lunar phase is associated with the Triple Goddess in her maiden form, representing the energy of purity, growth, curiosity and the sprouting of new life.
The Moon will finish out the day with a challenging square to Neptune late tonight, indicating there is potential for lack of emotional and intuitive clarity, making us more prone to confusion and deception. Dreams may be a bit wild tonight as well, so just a heads up on that! ;)
