This weekend starts out quite calm and relaxed with a calm and cozy Moon in Cancer making some dreamy and indulgent trines to both Neptune and Jupiter throughout the day on Saturday. By the end of this weekend, the intensity mounts as Pluto stations to move retrograde in the cold and calculating sign of Capricorn. Pluto goes retrograde for roughly five months out of every year, so the retrograde period itself is nothing to write home about—however, when Pluto stations things tend to feel quite intense as well as a bit ominous. This weekend, suspicions, obsessions and paranoia are heightened all the while our psychic attunement may substantially increase.
Friday (4/20): No major planetary aspects. The Moon in Gemini goes Void-of-Course from 5:05am until 7:26am MST when it moves into it’s home sign of Cancer. The moon in Cancer is very intuitive, nurturing, and emotional. This is a time when people become more empathic and emotions can be felt very deeply. Self-care becomes important during this time and people tend to retreat to the home to engage in activities that allow them to feel safe, comfortable and cared-for. Deep emotional bonds are also emphasized, making the moon’s transit through Cancer a time when more importance may be placed on close, supportive relationships and family ties.
The Moon today will make a sextile to the Sun, marking the waxing crescent phase of the moon. The Crescent Moon phase is a time when the seeds planted at the time of the new moon first begin to sprout. This can be an exciting time of exploring new ideas. This is an ideal time to get out into the world to meet new people and test the waters by beginning to take action on your intentions. This is a very optimistic time when we anticipate the potential of the new plans and projects that are about to take form over the coming lunar month. This lunar phase is associated with the Triple Goddess in her maiden form, representing the energy of purity, growth, curiosity and the sprouting of new life.
Later this evening, the Moon will make a challenging square to Mercury in Aries, indicating the potential for emotionally charged and challenging communication. This aspect is followed by an opposition to Saturn in Capricorn late tonight, bringing the possibility for a sobering reality check and subsequent emotional burden.
Saturday (4/21): No major planetary aspects. The Moon in Cancer will trine Neptune in Pisces early today, making this an ultra-watery, lazy Saturday morning— perfect for sleeping in or breakfast in bed at home with your partner! This afternoon the energy shifts a bit when the Moon opposes Mars, motivating us to become a bit more active. Paired with a trine to Jupiter, this evening is an excellent time to do something both exciting and indulgent! Just be careful not to take things too far, as the Moon in opposition to Pluto tonight adds some passion and intensity to our inner emotional experience— this aspect has the potential to cause us to feel less trusting and much more protective of ourselves and our comfort zones.
Sunday (4/22): Pluto stations retrograde today! Being an outer planet, Pluto already rules an internalized, psychological process of transformation and empowerment, and when retrograde this energy is increased threefold! When Pluto goes retrograde, the best and worst qualities of Pluto are all enhanced. Pluto retrograde enhances our psychic energy and ability to read others more easily, all the while causing us to become more protective, suspicious and paranoid! Pluto also has a strong influence over power dynamics on both an individual and global scale. While Pluto is direct, the search for power is more externalized and we become more externally ambitious, craving power in the form of dominance within a hierarchy and financial control. In retrograde, we are more inclined to search for power from within through deep, psychological and emotional forms of healing that empower us to take control of our own minds and transform our destiny from the inside out!
The Moon today goes Void-of-Course at 7:58am MST after making a challenging square to Uranus in Aries, indicating the potential for an unwanted disruption or abrupt change in plans. The Moon moves into the passionate and playful sign of Leo at 10:09am MST, where it will remain for the next 2.5 days. Today also marks the first quarter square of the Moon, bringing a crisis of commitment to manifestation of intentions that were seeded around the time of the New Moon in Aries last Sunday.
Have a beautiful weekend! Be sure to check back on Sunday for the weekday forecast! :)
