This week starts off with some dicey and intense energy with Mercury, planet of communication and intellect, in a passionate and biting square to Pluto along side a foggy and confusing square between Venus and Neptune—bringing an interesting combination of creativity, proneness to delusion and deception, laser-focused mental abilities, and a need for deeper, more intimate spiritual and intellectual connection.
Monday (5/7): Today Mercury in Aries squares Pluto in Capricorn, bringing a laser-focused depth and intensity to our thoughts and our words. Today is not a day for small talk or surface-level communication, as this energy doesn’t mess around. Words may take on a certain level of intensity, or may become more few and far-between as Scorpio isn’t a sign that’s quick to divulge information. Secrets or repressed issues may come up to the surface to be analyzed, communicated and cleared away and our deepest fears may be expressed through our thoughts and language. Interactions with others may become more passionate and intense, and people will be more prone to thinking in black-and-white extremes. This is also an influence associated with sharp words and quick tempers, so be sure not to become too reactionary or defensive with language unless you’re truly looking to burn bridges. The best use of this energy is for digging up information that has been kept hidden, through research or detective work, or for cultivating deep, passionate communication or confiding in a loyal friend. “Loyal” is the key word here, because with Venus square Neptune we are much more easily deceived by those closest to us, even with our minds being sharpened by this challenging transit between Mercury and Pluto.
Venus in Gemini squares Neptune in Pisces today, which is the ultimate “rose-colored-glasses” transit when it comes to relationships. The challenge today is only seeing what we want to see, making us more prone to delusions and deception in our partnerships. Others may utilize this energy to escape into a fantasy world through a partnership that may not full live up to their lover’s ideals. While this aspect can be channeled into creative projects and intuitive, spiritual pursuits, there is a tendency to take things too far and to more easily lose touch with reality. Escapism, spiritual-bypassing, playing the victim in relationships and scapegoating others are only a few of the many difficulties associated with this transit. It is important to stay grounded today, and to avoid making important decisions involving relationships or contracts as we are not likely to see things clearly at this time.
The Moon today is in its first-quarter square phase in Aquarius, making a positive aspect to Venus later this evening which allows a brief moment of clarity when it comes to our feelings and intuition involving others. The First Quarter Square of the moon marks a crisis of commitment. This is a time where we may feel disappointed with our progress thus far and old baggage from past cycles may come into conflict with what is being created in the present. The key here is to let go of old, limiting beliefs and psychological patterns that are holding us back. Emotional baggage from the past can leave us feeling stuck at this time, and this is an excellent time to clear away old wounds as they surface. The key here is to push through and not allow oneself to be held back by the events of the past. If used correctly, this can be a potent time of action and opportunity.
Tuesday (5/8): The Sun in Taurus today comes into opposition with retrograde Jupiter in Scorpio, highlighting the need to merge our conscious action out in the world with the moral, ethical, and philosophical values that give our life meaning and context. This transit can bring a broader perspective on life connected to a deeper Truth, and may also highlight where we haven’t been showing up with integrity in our daily experience. While this may be a hopeful and expansive influence, with Jupiter in retrograde the expansion is more introspective and internalized. This is an excellent time for learning about philosophy, religion, and for deep introspective spiritual exploration. This is also an excellent time to find a new teacher who can assist you in exploring deeper knowledge. With Jupiter in the secretive sign of Scorpio, this is a time when deep-seeded issues related to sex, power, fear and death may re-surface to be placed in the spotlight. Once these issues are looked at honestly and completely, we realize that they weren’t as scary as we initially thought they were and that it is sometimes necessary to drudge things up in order to work through and release old, stagnant repressed energy.
Just as a side note, Jupiter is exactly between the Earth and Sun on this day, and it’s about to reach it’s perigee (closest point to the Earth) tomorrow, which means Jupiter will be shining super brightly as it rises in the East at sunset today! Traditionally, this is an auspicious omen of good fortune for the world at large, especially in locations with clear skies where Jupiter will be visible! So get outside at sunset tonight and soak up some of those good Jupiter vibes! :)
The Moon today continues to transit the enigmatic sign of Aquarius throughout the day, making harmonious aspects to both Mercury and Uranus, bringing flashes of understanding and insight aligning our minds with our intuition in order to enhance honest and open communication. The Moon goes Void-of-Course at 7:29pm MST and moves into the mystical, magical sign of Pisces at 8:11pm.
Wednesday (5/9): The Moon is in Pisces today, making a supportive sextile over to Saturn in Capricorn. This connection between the intuitive Moon in the floaty and confusing sign of Pisces helps to ground the energy and allows us to see thing from both a creative and practical perspective.
The moon takes on a dreamy, magical quality in Pisces. Intuition, connectedness and imagination are heightened. Situations, people, or special circumstances may manifest themselves from out of nowhere, bringing incredible synchronicities. People become more empathic, and it may become difficult for some to discern between their own emotions and the emotions of others. This is an excellent time to delve deep into the spiritual realms. People may intentionally become more detached as a coping mechanism to guard themselves against intense emotions. Some may get lost in fantasy or drugs and alcohol to achieve this end. There is a danger of disillusionment as people are more susceptible to deception. The energy of moon in Pisces can bring great beauty, insight and romance when used appropriately.
Thursday (5/10): Jupiter is strong in the skies today as it reaches it’s perigee, which is it’s closest position to Earth! It will be interested to note the internal revelations that come through during this period as Jupiter is in retrograde expanding on our moral values, integrity and the beliefs and philosophies that give context to our reality. Traditionally, this is considered a lucky time for us all!
The Moon will make a conjunction to mystical, otherworldly Neptune today before training the super strong and benefic Jupiter… making this an excellent time to visualize intentions for the future. After all, today is a lucky day. ;)
The Moon today reaches it’s balsamic, or waning crescent phase in the mystical sign of Pisces. The Balsamic phase of the lunar cycle marks a time of seeding and surrender. This period represents the crone aspect of the Triple Goddess and is a transition state associated with the death and sacrifice of what once was for the sake of the future. Now is a time of undoing when it is important to begin retreating inward to rest and replenish for the new cycle that lies ahead.
Have a beautiful week! Be sure to check back on Thursday for the weekend forecast! :)
